Niko is growing too fast

The title says it all. What happened to my baby?? He's crawling, he has 2 bottom teeth, and, just this week, he has started pulling himself up to a standing position. What is his hurry?? I'm pretty sure he wants to keep up with his big brother, Andrew, but he's growing too fast for me. He is already 7-1/2 months old, which is hard to believe. He's going to be christened next Sunday. Dean and Megs are going to be his godparents. Megs just converted to Greek Orthodoxy, so that's exciting. Nicholas loves his baths, so hopefully, he will love this "bath" just as much.

Yeah, right.

I'm weird

And again, another Andrew-ism. Today, we were sitting here at the kitchen table, Andrew eating tomato soup and a bagel. He was acting silly, slurping his soup, when he said, "Mommy, I'm weird."

Who taught him that??

Things you don't want repeated

So, the other day, Josh took Andrew to school. On his way, he was pulled over, going 44 in a 25. He luckily did not get a ticket, but on the way to school, Andrew asked, "Daddy, did you get pulled over by the police?"

Yeah, not something you want to happen on his way to school, because OF COURSE it's now top of mind for him and he's going to go straight into his classroom and say, "Guess what? My daddy got pulled over by the POLICE!"

Some things are better left unsaid.

Andrew-isms

I have wanted to write a list of Andrew-isms for over a year now. The things that kid says amaze me. Where does he learn this stuff?? He is definitely pure entertainment around our house - we're thinking of getting rid of the TV.

1. In the car with Meemee one day, Meemee asked him if he was the bomb diggity (which is what his old teacher used to call him). He replied, "No, godamit."

2. Sometimes when we tell him to do something, he cups his ear and says, "What did you just say to me?"

3. One night, he asked if he could watch Happy Feet. I hate that movie, so I asked him if we could watch something else. We couldn't agree on a movie, so I told him he could watch Happy Feet.
His reaction: "(big sigh) But you said you didn't like it."
Me: "I know, but it's OK."
Him: "(bigger sigh) Fine." (as if I'm the one exasperating him!)

4. Josh, fed up with the boys, said to Andrew, "Go rock your brother, damit." Andrew said, "But I'm not damit."

hee. That one cracks me up. This kid makes me laugh.

Another thing that makes me laugh - Nicholas's facial expressions. Sometimes I think he's wondering how he got stuck with us. He does tend to look at us like we're crazy. I think he knows something we don't.

Valentine's Day

Okay, I suck at keeping this thing updated. Mary said, "update your blog," so I'm updating our blog!

Our Valentine's Day was great this year. Josh and Andrew had baked cookies for me and Josh had gotten Mom to baby-sit while we went to dinner and a movie. Saw "Juno." It was great. Here are a few pictures of Andrew baking the cookies.

Happy New Year (part deux)

We rang in the new year at our house with Dean, Meaghan and Alexis and our friends, Heather, Terry and their 2 girls, Kira and Leah. We had a good time, playing board games while the kids tore up the basement. All the kids, except Nicholas, made it until midnight. It was fun until both Alexis and Andrew had meltdowns at the end of the evening because they didn't want to go to bed. Kids. How do they not know that sleeping is the greatest thing ever??

Well, it's officially 2008. I thought I'd start the year off better about blogging, but apparently not since it's already mid-January. sigh.

Anyway, here are some pictures from Christmas. As you can see, Andrew really made out this year and was so excited to see all that he got. We had so much fun watching him. Nicholas, um, pretty much slept through the whole thing. Oh well, maybe next year.
